John "Jack" St. Clair Obituary

Whitehall-It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of John “Jack” Edward St. Clair Sr on March 14, 2024. With his loving family at his side, Dad passed peacefully at his residence on Champlain Ave. in Whitehall, NY.

Jack was born a twin to Albert & Velma St. Clair on August 2, 1928 which was just the beginning of the infamous “Jim and Jack” legacy. Jack attended and graduated from Whitehall High School. He and his brother participated and excelled in baseball, basketball, football and track. To this day Jim and Jack still hold a record in the 4x100 yard relay race. After graduation from high school, Jack enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served during the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. In 1957 Jack began working for the New York State Department of Corrections where he retired after 32 years. In 1954, Jack married Mary Ann Noonan, the love of his life. In September of 2024, they would have celebrated their 70th year of marriage.

Some of Jack’s hobbies included camping with his family on Lake St. Catherine and Myrtle Beach, golfing, playing cards and dominoes, enjoying a day at the Saratoga Racetrack, and watching baseball. Dad’s favorite team was always the Boston Red Sox. His second favorite team was whoever was beating his brother’s favorite team, the New York Yankees.

He was a member of the Whitehall American Legion Post 83, and a life member of Whitehall BPO Elks 1491, where he was the most senior member until his passing.

Beside his parents, Jack is predeceased by his sisters Doris Jeffreys, and Gracelyn Pippo, his twin brother James, his son-in-law Tim Kingsley, his granddaughter Chelsea Fragnoli, and great granddaughter Isabella Bigelow.

He is survived by his wife MaryAnn, Daughter Karen (Mark), Patricia (Tim), his son, John (Cherie), Anne, Susan, and son Thomas (Melia). His legacy of grandchildren include, Kelley (Greg), Heather, Mark Jr., David (Jenn), Ashley (Dan), Kerrie (F.P), Courtney (Tommy), Travis (Lindsey), Lindsey (Tyler), Brittany (Travis), Zachary (Lyka), Jedd (Joelle), Paige (James), Caitlyn, Ryan, and Daniel (Courtney).

We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Jack’s caretakers, JaneEllen Kingsley,  Pam Woodard, and Carrie Latrell. Carrie was not only his caretaker, but also became a member of our family.
